despite the fact
that they

want us

teach children
with softness
in our
eyes

who give
our
seats to
the elderly
&
the tired

We who
see past
whiteness &
browness
&
into
the
universal
blackness
of
humanitys'
iris.

We who
have
the
courage
to try
something
new
even though
it means
to crack open
our dark
stubbornness
to
let
the sun
shine
in.
