The Candidate - Reverend Shine Snake Oil Co.

Image
Check out more on Reverend Shine Snake Oil Co. here  - R.S.S.O. & Co. recently dropped their album "Anti Solpsism pt. I Creatures" which you can buy here  . If you're into blues, rock & roll, gospel, well, music in general - R.S.S.O.& Co. has a little something for everyone. I especially appreciate the poetry inherent in the lead singer's Claudius Pratt's lyrics. Having known Claudius since back in the 90s, it's inspiring to see his talent grow and how he has tended his craft with diligence and patience. Put that together with Mathias Klein on drums, Martin Ollivierre on  bass and Justin Moses Gunn on guitar and you have a pretty electrically-charged experience. If you ever have the opportunity to check these guys out live, I say do it. It truly is a multi-faceted submersion into time and space, where rhythms and cultures communicate with each other, weaving a tapestry of inclusion--thus achieving in music what so often fails in politics. Introducing: Reverend Shine Snake Oil Co.

Originally from New York City, Claudius Pratt was inspired to come to Copenhagen in part by the countless number of artists who came here before him. It is to these circumstances that he owes his latest inspiration, a documentary about the once-glorious past of Copenhagen's Art scene. "My project is based on my journey and the journey of those before me, I am looking at the historical link between America (New York) and Denmark (Copenhagen). From the end of World War II Copenhagen has been a refuge for many who felt they did not fit into the American Dream or were merely smothered by it. Artists of all disciplines have chosen Copenhagen as a field from which to sow there creative seed. Many of those were of African decent and they were the purveyors of culture, captivating audiences with their jazz. Cecil Brown published the book "The Lives and Loves of Mr Jive Ass Nigger" in 1969. It is based on such a man traveling from America to Copenhagen to see if there is “any...

My plant

Image
In case some of you are wondering what's up with the plant...well, let's just say that I finally invested in a camera so that I can post pictures directly to my blog...and this was a test & boy is it successful! Interesting day. Again, ask the universe for something and it comes. I needed some words of wisdom and boy did I get it! No matter how far ahead in the game you think you are, the Universe always sucker punches you and shows you who really is the BOSS. Boy am I humbled. Had dinner with Claudius today and we both got to bounce the goings-on in our lives off the other. It's good to talk to someone who listens and who you also feel compelled to listen to. I remember when I first met Claudius, man, it must have been like 20 years ago in CBGB's! I'm not kidding! And he had dreadlocks. I met him through Lisa, who is now Elisa Donovan and who'd a thunk he'd end up here in Copenhagen? Well, I'm glad he did cause his friendship is greatly appreciated...
