Blackgirl on Mars officially supports the New School Occupation.
As a New School Graduate, I was ashamed to learn of Kerry's appointment. He goes against everything the New School stood for and should continue to stand for. The reason I went to the New School was because of its historical roots in left-wing political thought. That's right. It messes up sometimes, I've seen it, but the heart of the New School is one of the few bastions for real left-wing thought in the U.S. I don't know if it's still like that, but I know the Professors I came into contact with and the literature that was passed on to me really spoke to me and reminded me that I was not the only person who knew that something was up in this world and that there were alternatives that many would prefer to be silenced.
Get Kerry out now. Reclaim the New School. NOW!

Hey, a New School graduate? Excellent! Seriously, you're very lucky to have had a place like that in which to study, they are becoming fewer every day as new corporatizing elites and private sector wannabes takeover and personally loot the funds of universities. Here I am talking about 100% public funded universities in Canada too, not the private ones in the US. The worse the problem gets, the more drastic the action that will be needed to regain the universities.

It's half-past twelve and the rest of the house is asleep while I work on my latest shawl. I can hear the frogs croaking outside and the breeze from the fan is cool on my otherwise hot skin. This is Alanna Lockward this past summer in Berlin. It was the last evening of BE.BOP 2018: Coalitions facing White Innocence.  today I received the very sad news that my friend and mentor, Alanna Lockward passed -  I did not know that grief could make you feel nauseated. I was just in touch with her this past weekend and over the holidays. I was about to apply for a fellowship and she was one of the first people I thought a bout for a letter of recommendation, and in true Alanna style, she did not hesitate with a yes. I decided in the end not to apply, but we continued to chat over WhatsApp - with her last message to me telling me that she was in Haiti and how excited she was for this new year.  Alanna was the brainchild behind Be.Bop -  Black Body politics that met every other year.
